He is a Naval Mechanical Engineer from the Chilean Naval Academy.D. in 1973 from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School of the U.S. Navy in California.

Former researcher at the Institute of Engineering of the UNAM.Worked for 25 years at the Federal Electricity Commission in the area of geothermal energy, where he held the position of National Geothermal Energy Manager.

He was the manager and developer of the first wind power plant in Mexico, La Venta 1 in Oaxaca.

In 2000, he received the international award “Los Pioneros” granted by the Geothermal Resources Council of the United States.At the Institute of Engineering of the UNAM, he was director of the IMPULSA4 project “Desalination of seawater with renewable energies” and representative of Mexico in the “Ocean Energies” chapter of the International Energy Agency.

In the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) he was Coordinator of the Geothermal Chapter of the Special Study on Renewable Energies.
Secretary of the Electrical Engineering Committee of the Academy of Engineering and invited member of the Energy Committee of the Mexican Association of Civil Engineers.

Member of COMEXI and the Mexico Chapter of the World Energy Council and the World Future Society.
He has published more than 30 research papers in international journals and is the author of 6 patents.
He is currently CEO of his own company GeoKeri, founding partner of ENAL and advisor on geothermal energy to the IDB.
